Holiday updates

Hello to all and Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a healthy and safe Holiday season.
Among the Christmas cards I received some ideas!  Please let me know what you think.

First:  from June Anello:  Thinking of a half way point for the family one suggestion came in for the Amish Country.
Lancaster, PA.  Perhaps to spend from a Thursday until Sunday. Its close to Gettysburg and Strousburg, alot to see there. We could check with the Chamber of Commerce about camping, hotels, and restaurants. Pretty country and history and museums.

Second:  Donna Murphy wrote:
Donna and Margie Muntz were wanting to put together a reunion in late July or early August in Maggie Valley (between Cashiers and Waynesville. Plenty of places to stay.

I still like the idea of 6 flags in Batavia, I'm down with Busch Gardens too.

Please let me know what you think of these ideas. If you would rather email to me: sbrink@stny.rr.com.

FYI: Darrell and I are off to Grand Bahamas for 8 days of fun in the sun!  Darrell will probably be underwater more than enjoying the sun. I'm not a tanner, but I love to "dangle"!  Just kidding, I'll be busy snorkeling with dolphins and checking out the emerald shops! Be back the 22nd of January.

Mike McLean

Hey Jill, those of us who are technologically challenged have just managed to read and respond to the Reunion site. I love the idea and want to get involved. I use VRBO. to rent property in Florida and so I am going to look at some various area's. I will send suggestions to this site. Don't expect them tomorrow as I don't have Internet at home (see the first sentence).
On one of our visits to NY I went past the park and found condo's there. What a shame we had so many great summers there. Look forward to seeing you guys again hopefully next summer.

When and Where

Hello Everyone!
Sunday will be November 1st. While that might not set off any alarms for a Wilson Reunion, here's a wake up.
To answer the when:
Sometime in June, 2010 that gives us 7 months to pull this together
July, 2010, 8 months
August, 2010 9 months
Seems like a lot of time? Here's what I'm thinking. November is now considered "holiday season" with Thanksgiving and all. Home Decorating, crafts and baking bring me quickly through the end of December.
So now lets look at the time left:
If we hold a reunion in June and I assume we are speaking after school is out, we are left with 5 months to pull everything together.
That brings up the next point. The Where.
I have a lot of encouragement with cousins wanting to have a reunion and after that encouragement there is silence.
Yikes!
Silence again?
Ok, we'll have it at my house! (Joking) That would be fun. No, seriously.... Not my house.
North Carolina?
Buffalo/Batavia ?( 6 flags/Niagra Falls)
Virginia Beach ?
Gettysburg?
Endicott?
Hello? anyone here?
Ok. We need some committees! Delegate. Volunteers?
Do I need to Volunteer some people?
Post so I know someone cares. Thanks! Lots of love to you and I miss you!
Jill

Wow, this is pretty high tech stuff for a family reunion, thanks Jill for setting this up. Hi Sharon, glad to see you chiming in. Great to see you all at my parent's anniversary, thanks for your being there for them.
Sharon, I deny any and all association to the egg-nogg bowl incident!

I am so God awfully blessed to have those memories at Canandaguia. I just could not wait until it arrived and was so depressed on the ride back home. That ride up the roller coaster overlooking the lake- the great hi jinks with everyone, not to mention the non-stop food. Man that family knew how to cook and prepare for a picnic!

We have to do this again. Jill, I would like to help with the location. I know I skew things a bit coming in from Chicago but no big deal. I want my youngest (2) Corey and Leia, age 11, to experience something like we had.

If you post where everyone will be coming from I can help- I don't know much about the people living down south- I know Endicott to the South, Rochester to the East, after that I'm lost. Thanks, looking forward to hearing more info soon. Anthony.

So, there is as far as we go. I believe there are some holes in this and the some of this is out of order. Best my memory serves me is that Aunt Matt (Matilda) was the oldest. I believe Dorthy was the youngest, then Lucy. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Should we put in birthdates? Are these names real? Like Aunt Matt, was really Matilda. She promised to kill me if I told anyone, too late. Like Ruby, was that short for something else; Bertie, Flo, Jed, etc.
All help is appreciated. Keep reading and lets get more posts!

Reunion Ideas

Some of you are shy to blog, and so you may have noticed I've been calling you also. I think we all agree that we have wonderful memories and definately want to see each other again. That being said, I've been trying to find a location that will work for the Southerners as well as us Yankees.

From Raleigh to Virginia or West Virginia is 350 miles. Buffalo to the same region is also 350 miles. Now I'm sure there is a park, or a beach that could work for our purpose. I'm thinking maybe cabins affordable we can rent. Any ideas?

Other suggestions I received, just get together in Buffalo......... I know you have 6 Flags there and Niagra Falls! When is the last time you all went to the Falls?

I feel like R2D2.........Need input.

Jill
Hello, everybody!
I am definitely interested in a family reunion and will forward info. re. this blog to all relatives that I have e-mail addresses for. I also have some amazing memories of family get-togethers; picnics, reunions, road trips and holiday events. Cousin Barbara getting stuck upside down on a ride at Roseland Park - all the change falling out of her pockets onto me (stuck below her!!) as she screamed and screamed to get down. The conspiracy among cousins to sneak into the 10 gallon bucket (I swear it was that big!) full of spiked egg nog on Grandma and Grandpa Wilson's back porch at Christmas time. Hikes down the gorge at Whirlpool Park in Niagara Falls. The football games and birthday cakes at nearly every get together. Hope to hear from a few other family members so maybe we can start planning.
